Abstract

The present study aims to understand playfulness as an essential pedagogical strategy in the teaching and learning process of Early Childhood Education. This bibliographic research seeks to highlight how play, games, and playful activities contribute to the child’s integral development, encompassing cognitive, affective, social, and motor aspects. When intentionally and thoughtfully applied by the teacher, play transforms the school environment into a pleasant and meaningful space, fostering curiosity, autonomy, and knowledge construction. In addition to promoting interaction between teacher and student, playful activities encourage experiences of socialization and expression, which are fundamental for the child’s formation as an active subject in their own learning process. Thus, this study reaffirms the importance of play as an educational practice that stimulates child development and makes the learning process more creative and humanized.
