Abstract

This article addresses the importance of children's drawing in the context of psychopedagogy, taking into account the bibliographic review of articles and books in the area. Firstly, it seeks to provide a historical view of the psychopedagogical practice as well as highlights the possibilities for its conceptualization, including the look of psychoanalysis as theoretical basis towards the interpretation of children's drawings. Then, it mentions the psychopedagogical assessment, contextualizing the use of drawing in clinical care, and emphasizing its importance as an assessment tool. Afterwards, a preamble is made of how drawing started to be part of our society, emphasizing the fact that it gains importance and starts to be studied, as society's view of childhood changes. Subsequently, the concept of representation and the stages of children's drawing according to Piaget are presented. The article also highlights children's drawing as a precursor to written language, mentioning some possible approaches/techniques for the interpretation of children's drawing. Finally, the article reveals the importance of drawing as a psychopedagogical resource, emphasizing its effectiveness.
