This study was developed with young people and adults deprived of liberty at the State Annex School in high school classes, extension classrooms of the Major Eldo Sá Correa Penitentiary - "Mata Grande" in the municipality of Rondonópolis – MT. The academic work developed in a participatory practice in a school environment through an action initiated with the generating theme "Social Inequality" and aimed to encompass the disciplines of the Humanities area in high school classes in a methodological proposal of didactic sequence. The development of the proposal aimed to explore the experiences of the students through spaces for dialogue, where writing was stimulated as a way of recognizing and constructing the subject, both producer and producer of the social space. The results of the activities developed in the classroom showed significant advances in the teaching and learning process, especially because the pedagogical practice was constructed as a didactic sequence, which prioritized the capacity for expression and shared understanding of the students around the theme. It was concluded, therefore, that the work mediated by the methodology in question allows the socialization of individual knowledge based on everyday experiences as an essential action in the teaching/learning process, and in the construction of the cognitive and intellectual development of the incarcerated student.
