IMPACT OF PUBLIC POLICIES ON THE EDUCATION OF PEOPLE WITH AUTISM: LITERATURE REVIEW

This study aims to investigate, through a literature review, the impacts of public policies on the education of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Society is increasingly aware of the importance of special education, through the acquisition of new values and principles. Thus, public policies have been developed to promote the inclusion of individuals with ASD, both in the educational sphere and in society at large. This is an exploratory bibliographic study conducted through a literature review. The conditions of ASD continue to pose challenges in educational processes. However, national legislation addressing the demands and rights of individuals with this disability is promoting significant changes regarding the educational inclusion of autistic individuals in mainstream education. Hence the importance of implementing and enforcing public policies, as they will consider the specificities of each student, their conditions, and limitations, leading them to the ultimate goal of learning.
