Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze the scientific production on anxiety disorders in youth, identifying trends and gaps in the literature. This descriptive, quantitative research examined articles indexed in the Web of Science between 1981 and 2024, using specific descriptors. A total of 4,737 articles were found, with an average annual growth of 3.2% and a peak of 35.6% between 2018 and 2019. The United States led scientific production (48.2%), followed by the United Kingdom (10.2%) and Australia (9%), while Brazil ranked 13th with 2%, standing out in scientific collaboration. Psychology (60%) and medicine (40%) were the dominant fields. The most common topics were the relationship between anxiety and depression, prevalence, and studies in children. A shift in focus was observed over the years: until 2019, the study of panic disorder predominated, while recent research has focused on comorbidities. It is concluded that, although scientific production has grown consistently, driven by international collaboration, further longitudinal studies and research in different sociocultural contexts are needed to expand the understanding of anxiety disorders in youth.
