Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of different leadership styles on the engagement of professionals working in beauty salons located in Goiânia, Goiás. The quantitative and descriptive research was conducted with 113 professionals through an electronic questionnaire that included sociodemographic data, the Managerial Style Assessment Scale (EAEG), and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s Alpha, and Pearson’s correlation, revealing high reliability indices for the instruments (α between 0.85 and 0.91) and high averages of leadership and engagement. The correlations demonstrated positive and significant associations between leadership styles and engagement, with the supportive style being the most strongly related, followed by the delegating and the directive styles. It is concluded that leadership styles play a determining role in the engagement of beauty salon professionals, reinforcing the need for managerial practices that combine support, clear guidance, and delegation. The study contributes to the literature on people management by highlighting the importance of leadership in the service sector and offering practical insights for managers seeking to strengthen their teams’ engagement.
