STUDENT HOUSING ASSISTANCE: A STUDY BASED ON THE GRANTING OF FINANCIAL AID IN A FEDERAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

This study is the result of descriptive research, with a quantitative approach, based on a systematic review of the literature, whose objective was to identify the socioeconomic profile of students that demand for assistance for student housing, in a federal education institution, to contribute to the improvement of that action at the institutional level. The data were obtained from analysis spreadsheets and forms of enrollment of students, data of the management system of student assistance and of the central notices of the institution researched. The results demonstrate the socioeconomic status of students, characterized by their income and housing situation, and reveal to us that overcoming the housing vulnerability is one of the factors that compose the basic conditions for that the student can remain and complete their studies, concretizing his right to education and it must be considered in the elaboration of public policies of student assistance.
