Abstract

Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), also known as dyspraxia, impairs the ability to perform coordinated motor activities, thus affecting the academic, social, and emotional lives of some individuals. This study aims to analyze, through an integrative review, the benefits of Integrative and Complementary Practices (ICPs) in the treatment of children with DCD. The evidence found indicates that interventions such as yoga, music therapy, art therapy, and meditation can have a positive impact on motor development, emotional well-being, and quality of life in these patients. It was also found that these practices are accessible, safe, and well-accepted in the pediatric therapeutic context, and may complement conventional therapies. However, it is important to highlight the need for more methodologically rigorous studies to confirm their effectiveness and guide clinical application, as there is no specific medication available for treatment. Thus, the integration of ICPs with traditional treatments represents a promising and more holistic approach to the care of children with DCD.
