MENTAL HEALTH AND PROFESSIONAL VALORIZATION IN THE CONTEXT OF THE UNIFIED PUBLIC SECURITY SYSTEM (SUSP): AN APPLIED ANALYSIS OF THE MILITARY POLICE OF PARANÁ

This study analyzes the professional development of Military Police officers in light of Law No. 13.675/2018, which established the Unified Public Security System (SUSP) and set health promotion as a strategic principle. The study is characterized as qualitative, analytical-descriptive research, based on bibliographic research and documentary analysis of federal and state regulations. It begins with the recognition that police work involves continuous exposure to risks and traumatic events, associated with high rates of anxiety, depression, burnout, and suicide. The study examines the implementation of these guidelines in the Military Police of Paraná (PMPR), focusing on the Pró-Vida, PRUMOS, and PROAAR programs and the structuring of the Biopsychosocial Care Center (CAB), including the Psychosocial On-Call Service. It is observed that there is formal alignment with federal norms, especially after State Decree No. 6,297/2020, however, challenges persist related to institutional stigma, the predominance of merely theoretical approaches in training, and the logistical limitations imposed by the territorial extension. It is concluded that mental health constitutes a strategic variable of institutional governance, requiring a transition to permanent, decentralized policies integrated into the Corporation's strategic planning.
