Abstract

This study investigated Physical Education teachers’ perceptions of the importance and challenges of including students with special educational needs in school classes. Findings showed that most teachers have limited professional experience and only undergraduate training, revealing weaknesses in preparation for inclusive practices. Although nearly half of them have worked with students with disabilities, most lack specific or continuing education in the area. This gap highlights the need for public policies that promote continuous training, pedagogical support, and adequate working conditions. It concludes that the effectiveness of inclusive Physical Education depends on solid teacher education, institutional commitment, and the appreciation of diversity as an educational principle.
