Abstract

The overall objective of this study is to analyze the importance of including students with special needs in schools. It seeks to understand the role of teachers and students in this process; identify existing benefits and barriers, as well as pedagogical and social challenges; and implement consistent pedagogical methodologies to address the problem. This is an integrative literature review, with data collected from Google Scholar databases, using articles available on the topic and published in 2025. Over 50 articles were analyzed, of which 20 were selected and used as the basis for this article. These articles were selected considering the theme, summary, and their direct relevance to the topic of this work. This research revealed that there is still work to be done regarding the inclusion process and that new methods and methodology are needed to further encourage teachers regarding the importance of social inclusion. It can be observed that over time, there has been a shift toward a new reflection on the inclusion process, promoting reflection, new thinking, and action.
