URBAN SOCIO-SPATIAL DYNAMICS, GLOBALIZATION, AND SUSTAINABILITY: A REVIEW FOR GEOGRAPHY CLASSES
Keywords:
Geography Teaching, Urban Socio-spatial Dynamics, Globalization, SustainabilityAbstract
The teaching of geography encompasses important themes from students' daily lives, among them, the urban socio-spatial dynamics that develop in the modern process of globalization and are interconnected with the theme of sustainability. In this context, the objective of this work was to conduct a bibliographic research on sustainable development and its environmental, social, and economic dimensions, as well as how this subject can be addressed in the geography discipline for high school students. The research demonstrated that research has been carried out and that urban socio-spatial dynamics are integrated into the pillars of sustainability. Recent studies address topics such as immigration, sustainable regional development, and emerging technologies for use in modern urban spaces, demonstrating the need for more research on teaching methodologies to address these issues in geography classes.
