Abstract

The new educational demands permeated by new digital information and communication technologies (DICT) require a new approach, in which the student is the protagonist and the teacher is the guide, in a collaborative process. Therefore, the work presented here aims to consider the importance of collaborative learning linked to the use of DICTs for more effective education and, in addition to the benefits, to present some challenges associated with this methodology. One methodology used in this work was bibliographic research. Several articles and books were read to reflect on and understand the topic. The study showed that, even in the face of the challenges associated with the use of DICTs, both for teachers and their practices and for students, collaborative learning is essential in meeting current educational demands and that its synergy with the use of digital information and communication technologies is effective. The practice of collaborative learning leads to greater skill development, increased engagement, and a diversity of ideas and solutions in the pursuit of knowledge through common goals. As proposals to overcome these and other challenges, we have the need for motivation and monitoring of learning by the teacher and the development of protagonism by the student, emphasizing that the family and the State also have responsibilities for learning.
