HERPES ZOSTER E VACINAÇÃO CONTRA VARICELA NA FAIXA ETÁRIA PEDIÁTRICA: UMA REVISÃO NARRATIVA

Herpes zoster (HZ) é uma doença causada pela reativação do vírus varicela-zoster, que afeta a pele e os nervos e provoca uma erupção cutânea dolorosa, podendo levar a complicações graves, como neuralgia pós-herpética e redução da acuidade visual. Sua incidência é elevada após os 50 anos de idade e em imunossuprimidos, e menos frequente na faixa etária pediátrica. Infecção pregressa pelo vírus varicela-zoster (varicela) e imunização contra varicela são aspectos importantes no desenvolvimento da doença em crianças. Atualmente, a imunização contra varicela é recomendada pela Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) nos programas de vacinação infantil de rotina. Estudos consistentes sobre herpes zoster na infância e sua relação com a vacinação contra varicela são limitados. Portanto, este artigo objetivou analisar a doença em menores de 18 anos, sua prevalência, particularidades e complicações e a relação entre herpes zoster na infância e a imunização contra varicela.
