DESGASTE DENTAL EN RUMIANTES: UNA REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA

La ganadería brasileña, reconocida internacionalmente por su capacidad productiva, aún enfrenta desafíos relacionados con la salud bucal animal, que afectan el bienestar, la ganancia de peso y la productividad del hato. Por lo tanto, este estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender las características del desgaste dental en rumiantes y los principales métodos utilizados para su análisis. Mediante una revisión sistemática de la literatura (RSL), se analizaron estudios sobre el tema. Los resultados mostraron un predominio de metodologías basadas en la inspección visual y el análisis de imágenes. También se observó que el desgaste dental está poco estudiado en especies de interés zootécnico, como el ganado bovino, caprino y ovino. Esta brecha representa una oportunidad para ampliar la investigación con un impacto potencial en la productividad, el manejo y el bienestar animal. El estudio contribuye al consolidar el conocimiento existente, identificar limitaciones metodológicas y señalar vías para el desarrollo de herramientas aplicables a la ganadería moderna y sostenible.
