REFLECTIONS ON THE USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN SCIENCE TEACHING: CHALLENGES AND CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVES

The teaching and learning process has become increasingly fragmented and disconnected from students' realities, resulting in progressive gaps throughout their academic development. The growing use of the internet and social media, accessed through various devices, directly impacts attention and learning. Therefore, this paper aims to reflect on the need for a broad discussion about the direction of education today, highlighting social responsibility in maintaining educational quality. The methodology adopted consisted of a qualitative literature review, conducted through an electronic search on Google Scholar, selecting articles published in 2024 and available in full. Aspects such as the justification presented by the studies, the reported difficulties, the suggested strategies, and the educational segment addressed were analyzed. The results indicate that, although the integration of digital technologies and active methodologies has transformative potential, it is essential to recognize challenges and limitations, requiring an institutional commitment to ensure adequate infrastructure and teacher training. It is concluded that the balanced use of the internet and digital technologies in education must be guided by a critical and reflective approach, promoting meaningful learning without compromising students' cognitive and emotional development.
