This scoping review investigated evidence on the use of psychoeducation and emotion regulation in cognitive therapies for women survivors of gender-based violence with clinical depression and/or post-traumatic stress disorder. Searches were conducted in international databases (PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, SciELO, BVS, and Google Scholar) between 2021 and 2025, yielding 312 references, of which three randomized controlled trials met the inclusion criteria. The studies, conducted in Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, evaluated different modalities of cognitive therapy, including online formats, trauma-focused adaptations, and approaches integrating mindfulness or positive memory recall. Findings indicated feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary evidence of effectiveness in reducing PTSD, depression, and anxiety symptoms, as well as improvements in emotion regulation and self-compassion. Despite the limited number of publications, results highlight the potential of cognitive interventions to promote mental health among women exposed to gender-based violence.
