Schwannomas are slow-growing, benign tumors located in the Schwann sheath of neurons in the myenteric plexus of the eighth cranial nerve. Schwannomas of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) are rare mesenchymal tumors of spindle cells, which are covered by peripheral nerves.
