Veterinary Medicine students' perceptions of alternative methods (AM) to the use of animals in practical semiology interventions were assessed through a mixed cross-sectional study. An online questionnaire was administered and a focus group was held to characterize the knowledge, representations, and impacts of the experience. The results demonstrated increased safety and reduced anxiety, although AM does not completely replace live animals. A consensus was identified on the importance of integrating AM into supervised activities with animals, in addition to a utilitarian ethical tendency. The combination of AM and traditional practices can optimize training, minimizing impacts on animal welfare and promoting reflective and ethical learning.
