Abstract

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to analyze the main factors that influence the physiotherapeutic rehabilitation process after stroke. METHODOLOGY: Based on a systematic literature review, studies were selected from national and international electronic databases, including PubMed, Scielo, PEDro, and Bireme, using descriptors such as "physiotherapy," "CVA," "rehabilitation," "social and economic factors," and "physical limitations." The research involved articles published between 2011 and 2024, with the use of well-defined inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure the quality and relevance of the reviewed works. RESULTS: In the reviewed studies, the samples demonstrated that social factors, such as the lack of family support, and economic factors, such as limited financial resources for treatment, are significant challenges for adherence to physiotherapy treatment. Additionally, physical limitations, such as spasticity and muscle weakness, also hinder the functional recovery of patients. The analysis further revealed that physiotherapeutic interventions, when well-structured, can improve mobility and quality of life, provided they are integrated into a care plan that addresses both physical and emotional aspects. CONCLUSION: Given the results presented, it can be concluded that post-CVA rehabilitation is a process that goes beyond physical treatment, encompassing social, economic, and emotional aspects that directly affect patient adherence to treatment. The physiotherapist's role should be organized and patient-centered, considering not only the recovery of motor functions but also the patient's psychological and social conditions. It is essential that healthcare services integrate physiotherapy into an interdisciplinary approach to promote more effective and personalized care.
