The main theme of this paper is the rational use of medicines in Brazil, focusing on the analysis of the illegal and controversial practice known as “push therapy”, which compromises the appropriate use of medicines. The main objective of the research is to analyze how this practice compromises pharmaceutical practice and the rational use of medicines in the country. To develop the article, an explanation will first be made of how pharmaceutical practice has changed in recent years, showing the laws that were fundamental for this process to occur in Brazil. Subsequently, an analysis of the concept of “push therapy” will be made, aiming, finally, to analyze pharmaceutical assistance and the rational use of medicines. The methodology used will be the literature review research, seeking to use articles on the subject and studies on the relevant legislation. The results will be disclosed after the publication of the dissertation and publication of articles in indexed journals and similar.
