By problematizes the ideal of motherhood, the text questions social norms that disregard women's desires, highlighting the importance of empathetic, non-moralizing clinical and respectful of women's subjectivity. It emphasizes the need to guarantee these women the right to choose - whether to continue the pregnancy adopt or have an abortion as provided for by law - considering the essential role of institutional care and the support network in new meanings in the face of trauma. Motherhood, in this context, is presented as a possibility rather than an imposition, opening up space for experiences of being a woman, gestating and (not) mothering.
