This study investigated communication challenges and innovative strategies to improve interaction between students, teachers, and tutors in Distance Learning (DL). The overall objective was to analyze how the relationship between these participants can be optimized, considering the obstacles encountered and possible solutions. The research was bibliographical in nature, based on a review of relevant literature on DL, active methodologies, gamification, and the role of the tutor. During the development, the main communication challenges faced by those involved were identified, such as the lack of physical proximity and technological barriers. In addition, strategies, such as active methodologies and gamification, that can facilitate interaction and engagement in the learning process were explored. The research revealed that personalizing learning and the role of the tutor are essential to overcome these difficulties, promoting interactive education. The final considerations indicated that, although DL presents challenges, the strategies adopted can contribute significantly to improving the quality of teaching. However, further studies are needed to understand the effectiveness of these approaches in different educational contexts.
