This study aimed to analyze the role of Physical Education, combined with immersive technologies, in promoting the comprehensive education of basic education students. The research focused on the application of virtual reality as a pedagogical resource, observing its effects on engagement, motor and cognitive development of students, as well as the challenges faced by teachers and educational institutions. To this end, a bibliographic research methodology was adopted, with an analysis of three recent studies, selected based on criteria of currentness, relevance and thematic pertinence. The analysis indicated that the use of virtual reality contributed to the expansion of student participation in Physical Education classes, especially among students with less involvement in traditional proposals. The development of complex motor and cognitive skills, such as coordination, selective attention and spatial orientation, was also observed. However, the implementation of these technologies was limited by structural factors, such as the lack of connectivity, the scarcity of equipment and the lack of specific teacher training. It was concluded that the integration of immersive technologies into Physical Education teaching can favor the comprehensive development of students, as long as it is accompanied by appropriate public policies and ongoing training of education professionals.
