Abstract

The article "Comprehensive Education: Challenges, Advances and New Horizons for the Formation of Full Citizens" discusses the importance and impact of comprehensive education in Brazil, exploring its historical evolution, legal frameworks and the foundations that support this educational model. The proposal for comprehensive education aims at a complete education of students, covering not only cognitive development, but also emotional, social and physical development, through the extension of the school day. The article analyzes the challenges in implementing comprehensive education, such as school infrastructure, teacher training and the lack of adequate pedagogical resources. In addition, it explores the benefits of this model in promoting social inclusion, reducing educational inequalities and preparing critical and conscious citizens. Future perspectives are also discussed, including the role of educational technologies and the importance of public policies to ensure quality education for all students, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds. Comprehensive education is seen as a fundamental tool for building a more just, equitable and sustainable society.
