VIOLENCIA POLÍTICA DE GÉNERO

Abstract

Gender-based political violence refers to acts of violence and discrimination directed at women in the exercise of their political rights, aiming to restrict their participation and action in politics. These acts may include harassment, threats, insults, slander, and attacks that disqualify their capabilities and rights as women, compromising democracy and gender equality in Brazil. This work aims to analyze the phenomenon of gender-based political violence in Brazil, identifying its manifestations, especially in the psychological, moral, symbolic, and virtual dimensions, as well as its legal and social effects, in addition to evaluating the effectiveness of legal and judicial instruments aimed at confronting it, with the intention of contributing to the expansion of female participation under conditions of equality and security. This work was developed using a qualitative approach, based on bibliographic and documentary research, analysis of specific legislation, with emphasis on Law No. 14.192/2021, and a case study, especially case No. 0600053-27.2023.6.14.0001, judged within the scope of the Regional Electoral Court of Pará, in order to build a consistent theoretical foundation on gender-based political violence and its impacts on democracy.
