ITALIAN LITERATURE AFTER FASCISM: EXPERIMENTALISM AND MASS CULTURE IN GRUPPO 63

Abstract

This work aims to briefly present the Italian literary movement Gruppo 63, formed in the 1960s, which sought to break with the traditional models of Italian literature and question the cultural standards imposed by the society of the time. In a context marked by the impacts of fascism and the transformations of the post-war period, writers and intellectuals linked to the group proposed new forms of aesthetic expression and social criticism, positioning themselves against conservative structures present in art and literature. The study addresses historical-cultural reflections related to fascism, mass culture, and the concept of kitsch, highlighting the discussions developed by the Italian writer Umberto Eco. It seeks to understand how these intellectuals used literature as an instrument of cultural contestation, social criticism, and aesthetic renewal in the contemporary Italian scene.
