NURSING CARE FOR PATIENTS UNDERGOING TRANSPLANTS: INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Objective: to identify nursing interventions in the literature that contribute to safe and quality care for patients undergoing transplants. Methodology: This is an integrative review, carried out in the databases, Pubmed and Lilacs, with the Descriptors in Health Sciences (DECS) and Medical Subject Heading (MESH), “patient safety”, “transplantation” and “nursing”, using the Boolean operator “AND”. The inclusion criteria were scientific articles published from 2013 to 2023, original, in Portuguese and English and those excluded were articles that did not respond to the research hypothesis, monographs, dissertations and theses. Results: Our research resulted in 10 articles that responded to our research hypothesis; What is the nursing care provided to patients undergoing transplants? The articles were divided into three themes, namely: Nursing assistance to patients undergoing liver transplant surgery, Nursing assistance to patients undergoing bone marrow transplant surgery/hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and Nursing assistance to patients undergoing kidney transplant surgery. Conclusion: We conclude that nursing care for patients undergoing transplantation is subdivided into operative phases, with the preoperative phase being care related to the patient's skin, surgical positioning, early mobilization, prevention of deep vein thrombosis and temperature, in the intraoperative phase; care with gastric tube and postoperative phase, guidance at home and warning about medication use.
