TOURETTE SYNDROME: A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT, AND INCLUSION

Introduction: Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by the presence of motor and vocal tics that manifest chronically, beginning before the age of 18. Objective: To present a comprehensive analysis of Tourette Syndrome, addressing its clinical, neurobiological, and psychosocial aspects, with emphasis on the contribution of Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS) as part of comprehensive care. Method: This is an integrative review and a translational study. The PICO method, a mnemonic for identifying key topics, was applied to delineate the theme and the study question: Tourette, syndrome, symptoms, tics, Gilles, neurotransmitters, neuro. Results and discussion: Professional practice in addressing the needs of people with Tourette Syndrome is guided by various norms and legislation that guarantee care, inclusion, and respect for the rights of these individuals, both in the health and educational fields. Conclusion: Based on this article, we can observe that early diagnosis strategies, behavioral therapies such as comprehensive behavioral intervention for tics, and the application of inclusive policies are essential to promote the full development of individuals with Tourette Syndrome.
