GEOCOSM PROJECT AND TRAVELING ASTRONOMY: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY TOOL FOR THE DISSEMINATION AND POPULARIZATION OF GEOGRAPHY AND PHYSICS

The GEOCOSMO project aims to promote science communication and the popularization of Geography and Physics through an interdisciplinary approach. Geography, as a fundamental discipline for understanding the interactions between society and the environment, and Astronomy, recognized for its inherently interdisciplinary character, are addressed within both formal and non-formal educational contexts. The project is structured around didactic activities such as itinerant astronomical observations, interactive workshops, and the use of innovative pedagogical materials, enabling an accessible and engaging learning experience. The teaching of Astronomy and Geography in school settings presents challenges, including the lack of specialized teacher training; however, initiatives such as GEOCOSMO contribute to overcoming these barriers. The integration of different fields of knowledge allows participants to develop a broader understanding of the universe and the planet, fostering critical thinking and scientific literacy.
