This paper reports on the use of two active teaching and learning methods in Higher Education. The text describes the joint application of Jigsaw Classroom and Team-Based Learning (TBL) in the Incoming Student Integration Program (PIEI), offered to first-semester medical students. The proposal aimed to promote the engagement of incoming students with collaborative learning practices and facilitate their adaptation to Higher Education. The description is based on pedagogical observations, institutional records and spontaneous comments from participants.
