This article presents a literature review on interior design as a therapeutic resource applied to children with neurobehavioral disorders. The objective was to identify, based on Brazilian scientific publications, which spatial planning elements contribute to enhancing child development and supporting educational and clinical interventions. Publications from 2013 to 2024 were analyzed, discussing principles of playful design, inclusive visual communication guidelines and neuroergonomic concepts applied to therapeutic environments. The results show that the integration between aesthetics and functionality increases autonomy, improves social interaction and reduces sensory overload, creating more favorable conditions for children’s engagement in structured activities. It was observed that elements such as modular furniture, clear signage and specific color use promote spatial understanding and strengthen cognitive and emotional skills. The presence of transition areas between stimuli, associated with the inclusion of natural and technological resources, shows a positive impact on self regulation and therapeutic performance. It is concluded that interior design, when developed based on scientific foundations, plays an essential role in creating inclusive, safe and stimulating places, acting as a strategic tool in the global development of children with different neurobehavioral needs.
