Abstract

This work seeks to demystify the myths and neglect suffered by people with learning difficulties or disabilities, a prevalent phenomenon not only in society as a whole but also, unfortunately, in schools. This article combines studies conducted by experts on the subject and presents research resulting from master's dissertations, doctoral theses, as well as books and published articles by experts in the field. This work considers the importance of highlighting different social policies aimed at school inclusion and addressing the challenges in the classroom and in teaching for people with learning difficulties or disabilities. Throughout the study, these difficulties and disabilities will be specified and presented with their characteristics, with the intention not only of understanding them but also of ensuring expectations for overcoming the prejudices and taboos that converge around special education.
