Abstract

Do students trained in first aid feel more confident and motivated to apply the necessary techniques to save a life? Objective: To train students from public schools in first aid, promoting accident prevention and improving response in emergency situations. Methodology: This experience report describes a discussion circle in which nursing students and students from a local public school met to discuss first aid. The activity took place in March 2024, in a classroom prepared in advance for the meeting. Results: The theoretical and practical demonstration activity was directed to the leaders and vice-leaders of each class, previously selected. Initially, contact was established with the school management, during which it was informed that the institution does not have health professionals on staff. Considering this need, it was decided that the topic to be addressed with the students would be first aid. Conclusion: The practice reinforces students’ self-confidence, ensuring that they are prepared to act quickly and effectively in critical moments. This confidence is essential for decision-making under pressure and can be decisive in saving lives.
