Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) suffers from attacks by thrips (Caliothrips sp.), a difficult-to-manage pest that reduces crop productivity. This study evaluated the efficacy of entomopathogenic fungi (Beauveria bassiana and Cordyceps javanica at 1×10⁷ conidia/mL), associated or not with commercial vegetable oils (castor, orange, garlic and citronella, at 2% and 5%), in the control of nymphs and adults of Caliothrips in common bean grown in a greenhouse and in the field. Four experiments were conducted, covering the vegetative (V2) and reproductive (R6) phases, in completely randomized and randomized block designs. Applications were made with a micro airbrush sprayer and a backpack sprayer; mortality assessments occurred 24 h, 7 and 14 days after application. Vegetable oils showed an immediate insecticidal effect, especially garlic oil (5%), while entomopathogenic fungi provided a residual effect, with mortality rates exceeding 80% after 14 days, particularly when combined with castor and orange oils at 2%. It is concluded that the oil + fungus combination showed better control over time and that dose adjustments are necessary to avoid phytotoxicity (observed with 5% orange oil). The results indicate potential for the inclusion of these combinations in integrated management programs for Caliothrips.
