FIBROMIALGIA Y ENTRENAMIENTO DE LA FUNCIÓN EJECUTIVA: UNA REVISIÓN DE SCOPE

Resumen

Antecedentes y objetivos: La fibromialgia, caracterizada como un síndrome de dolor crónico, afecta sustancialmente a una parte considerable de la población mundial, manifestándose no solo por dolor persistente, sino también comprometiendo la calidad de vida de las personas afectadas. Esta revisión exploratoria se realizó para explorar la interacción entre la fibromialgia y las funciones ejecutivas. Las funciones ejecutivas se refieren a un conjunto complejo de habilidades cognitivas que abarcan, entre otras, el control inhibitorio, la regulación emocional, la planificación estratégica y la toma de decisiones informada. Métodos: Para realizar esta revisión, se utilizaron las palabras clave "fibromialgia" y "funciones ejecutivas" en una búsqueda sistemática en las bases de datos PubMed, Scilit y la Biblioteca Virtual de Salud. Se incluyeron estudios publicados entre 2018 y 2023. El propósito de esta revisión fue proporcionar una perspectiva holística y actualizada sobre los hallazgos y perspectivas de la literatura sobre la interrelación entre la fibromialgia y las funciones ejecutivas. Resultados: Entre los desafíos señalados en la literatura, destacan la complejidad inherente a la etiología de la fibromialgia, el frecuente retraso en el diagnóstico correcto y la presencia de comorbilidades concomitantes. Conclusión: Estas variables pueden interferir potencialmente con la adherencia del paciente al tratamiento y, en consecuencia, con las estrategias de intervención propuestas.
