Abstract

The choice of technology infrastructure to be adopted by companies in various sectors depends on factors that can often be overlooked. Therefore, it is urgent to explore alternative scenarios to meet current market demands. The scope of this research was to analyze the scientific literature on the two IT architecture models. A quantitative bibliometric study of the most relevant journals on the topic over the last 10 years was conducted, considering only reference journals in the field of information technology, as well as keywords such as on-premise and cloud computing, and the ISI Web of Science platform as a database. The search returned 274 records. The results reveal that the decision regarding IT architecture is not limited to unilateral comparisons, but depends on the nature and specific needs of each business, highlighting the complexity of the selection process and the need for a more in-depth and individualized analysis. Future studies are encouraged to delve deeper into this topic through case analyses, seeking to validate the variables identified in sectors of high strategic relevance.
