COST EVALUATION AND PROFITABILITY OF SOY PRODUCTION IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF RIO VERDE - GO: A CASE STUDY

Soybean production is one of the main activities of Brazilian agribusiness, playing a fundamental role in the national and regional economy. The municipality of Rio Verde, located in the state of Goiás, stands out as one of the largest grain producing centers, benefiting from advanced climate conditions, technological advances and consolidated agricultural infrastructure. The objective is to analyze the production costs and profitability of soybean cultivation in the region, between the cycles of 2008/2009 to 2023/2024, with the exception of the cycle 2013/2014 due to instability of the primary data collected, considering factors such as inputs, labor, mechanization, administrative and financial, services and outsourcing and marketing. The methodology applied is based on the collection of primary data from a rural property and institutional sources through the descriptive method of an exploratory nature in which the evolution of the production cost and profitability of the crop were evaluated. The results allow a detailed assessment of the economic results of soybean production in the municipality, contributing to the strategic planning of the agricultural sector and decision-making by producers and investors. The 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 cycles stand out, with net financial results per hectare of R$ 1,993.52 and 6,128.03 respectively, the best in the historical series.
