IT'S EASY TO COMPLICATE THINGS, BUT DIFFICULT TO GET TO THE ESSENTIALS – THE CONTRIBUTION OF DESIGNER BRUNO MUNARI'S THINKING TO ARCHITECTURE AND URBANISM

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of designer Bruno Munari's contribution to architecture and urbanism through an analysis of texts from the compendium *Das coisas nascem coisas*, which brings together important writings on the creative process and design method. The results present the following contributions of Munari's thought to the field of architecture and urbanism: a) experimentation with prefabrication for rapid construction; b) use of prototypes, models, and maquettes for verification and validation of architectural form; c) use of techniques such as bionics and proxemics for formal and functional investigation of environments; d) systematization of the creative process based on the Cartesian scientific method; e) the contribution of user experience, the possibility of co-creation of spaces, and a multisensory focus beyond the dominant visual aspect. e) the difference between styling and design, f) the use of hand drawing as sketches and drafts throughout the entire project process from conception to the final design, g) the preparation of project analysis sheets for similar projects, and h) a focus on the durability of systems and solutions for buildings.
