RESTORATIVE PRACTICES: CONFLICT MANAGEMENT AND PREVENTION TOOLS IN SOCIOEDUCATING CARE CENTERS

Abstract

This paper addresses restorative practices as tools for preventing, managing, and resolving conflicts in socio-educational institutions. These institutions accommodate juvenile offenders, addressing the conflict that led to their detention, as well as conflicts in interpersonal relationships and the process of enforcing the imposed measure, applying restorative justice methods. Currently, the Judiciary System has been receiving lawsuits filed by the Public Defender's Office, which request the verification of measures to inhibit incompatible practices, which, in turn, violate the rights of socio-educational inmates. The Federal Constitution and the Child and Adolescent Statute are guiding mechanisms for investigating irregularities in service institutions. The aim is to analyze the possibility of implementing restorative circles in these settings as a means of preventing and managing conflicts involving socio-educational inmates, technicians, and socio-educational agents. The concept of conflict, its nature, and the role of the Centers will be presented, emphasizing the application of restorative practices. Through research using deductive and bibliographic methods, this study seeks to analyze this extremely relevant topic for both those involved and society as a whole. It is understood that, through this practice, solutions can be sought to address the conflicts experienced within socio-educational centers, thus enabling a viable alternative to the system based on dialogue-based solutions focused on social peace, which will consequently have a positive impact on conflict prevention and management.
