Abstract

The evaluation of teachers' performance has increasingly occupied the educational and political agenda in recent years, bringing to the forefront the discussion about teacher professionalism and its assessment. It refers to a process that is difficult to conceive and implement. Evaluation can be applied at various levels, ranging from the classroom to the personal performance of teaching and non-teaching staff. The main objective of this project is to analyze the influence of teacher evaluation on the professional performance of teachers at the Metodista BG 1044 Primary School. This work constituted, as a whole, a single research unit with two convergent and complementary components: one theoretical and the other empirical. They converge on the objective of analyzing teachers' personal perceptions. The aim of the first part is to situate the issue of teacher evaluation and its consequent satisfactory influence on professional performance. The second part, the empirical study, aims to present the collected data in order to meet the objectives of the present study. According to the objectives set for our project, it was necessary to collect specific types of data, taking into account a set of research methods and techniques within the scope of social sciences. To achieve these objectives, we used bibliographic documentary research and conducted semi-structured interviews with six teachers from this school. The results were satisfactory, indicating a process related to pedagogical supervision, considered an indispensable practice for the professional performance evaluation of teachers.
