PLANNING, LOGISTICS AND SOCIAL ACCEPTANCE IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF BIODIGESTERS IN RURAL COMMUNITIES

Inadequate management of liquid and solid waste compromises quality of life and public health in rural communities, where the absence of basic sanitation infrastructure results in significant environmental and sanitary impacts. This study aims to analyze the process of implementing biodigesters in rural communities in the municipality of Guanhães, Minas Gerais, highlighting administrative, technical, and operational challenges. The research was conducted through a qualitative study, using documentary, observational, and institutional data obtained from the execution of the project funded by the "Liberta Minas 2021" public call. The main results indicate that implementation involved multiple stages, including planning, equipment acquisition, beneficiary registration, and educational actions to ensure technology acceptance. The biodigesters aimed to contribute to reducing water and soil contamination, promoting improvements in local sanitary conditions. It is concluded that the documented experience can serve as a model for other rural sanitation initiatives, reinforcing the importance of integrated approaches that combine technical planning, community support, and public funding to ensure the sustainability of decentralized wastewater treatment solutions.
