Abstract

This experience report describes the experience of Nursing students in the implementation of activities aimed at promoting children’s socioemotional competencies in schools. It is a descriptive study, in the form of an experience report, with qualitative analysis of the records. The report presents the experiences of Nursing extension students during an outreach project focused on developing activities to promote socioemotional competencies among children in municipal schools in the city of Piauí, carried out between April and October 2023. The study observed children’s socioemotional competencies, addressing their knowledge of emotions, the feelings arising from daily situations, and the challenge of bullying in the school environment. It highlighted the importance of activities that encourage active listening and revealed the influence of family on children’s emotions. The findings emphasize the relevance of approaches in emotional education for holistic development from childhood, as well as the significant impact of the school environment on socioemotional competencies. Therefore, the report underscores the need to implement education with socioemotional values in schools, fostering the formation of resilient and empathetic citizens, transforming these educational institutions into spaces that nurture human flourishing and shape generations capable of contributing positively to society.
