WATER AS A SOURCE OF LIFE AND THE DANGER OF ITS CONTAMINATION DUE TO IMPROPER OR EVEN ILLEGAL EXTRACTION OF MINERALS

Abstract

This article addresses the importance of water, which is the source of life for all beings. It also provides its byproduct, electricity, which is the main source of industrialization. Its objective is to demonstrate the need to protect the planet's drinking water. Although our planet is known as the blue planet due to its enormous quantity, consumable water is scarce and can become depleted, which will consequently lead to the extinction of species, as there is no way to survive without it. The article briefly addresses the tragedy that occurred in the Yanomami territory, when illegal mineral extraction contaminated the water, sickening the native peoples and causing some to die.
