This article examines the myth of racial democracy in Brazil, a narrative that defends racial harmony resulting from miscegenation during colonization. The analysis focuses on Gilberto Freyre's work "Casa-Grande & Senzala," which, despite its contribution to studies of Brazilian social formation, perpetuates an idealized and distorted view of ethnic-racial relations. The study critiques the dominant narrative constructed by white intellectuals and discusses the implications of structural racism in the Brazilian collective imagination.
