The article analyzes the learning recovery strategies adopted by the federal government and the state of Mato Grosso, highlighting the mediating role of teachers in this process. Based on neoliberalism and New Public Management theories, it discusses the tensions between management focused on results and a humanized education approach. It examines programs such as PRA-MT and Avalia MT, emphasizing the importance of pedagogical autonomy and teacher leadership to address inequalities and improve the quality of public education in the post-pandemic context.
