This review article critically analyzes the role of popular education as an instrument for social transformation and overcoming the invisibilization of politically minority groups. Based on a Marxist perspective, the work examines the limitations of institutionalized education as an ideological apparatus of the state and proposes popular education as an alternative for building authentic identities and breaking with capitalist sociability. Through a theoretical analysis that articulates concepts from Althusser, Bourdieu, Dussel and other authors, we argue that effective social transformation requires non-institutionalized educational practices that question established power structures. The study concludes that popular education represents a promising path for the formation of subjects capable of promoting the structural changes necessary to overcome inequalities and social exclusion in the Brazilian context.
