This study addressed self-managed learning as a training strategy that gave students autonomy to plan, execute and evaluate their own learning process. The research started from the following problem: what are the main characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of self-managed learning in the context of contemporary education? The general objective was to analyze the elements that define this approach, with emphasis on self-assessment, self-reflection and continuous monitoring of performance. The methodology adopted was based on bibliographic research, allowing the survey and analysis of theoretical studies that addressed the topic, with an emphasis on the use of resources such as educational games, storytelling and reflective practices. During the development of the study, it was found that self-managed learning was characterized by the student's ability to manage their educational path in a conscious and active way. Advantages such as strengthening motivation and autonomy, in addition to promoting self-responsibility, were highlighted. On the other hand, challenges related to unequal access to resources, the need for continuous support and the difficulty of self-management on the part of some students were identified. The final considerations indicated that self-managed learning contributed significantly to the formation of critical and autonomous individuals, but depends on adequate pedagogical conditions for its implementation. It was suggested that new studies be carried out to explore its application in different educational contexts.
