This study sought to identify how teachers at a municipal school are developing environmental education in their daily school routine. The methodology used was a qualitative and exploratory approach, a case study conducted at an elementary school. The following techniques were used to collect data: document analysis, questionnaires, and non-participant observation. The data were organized and analyzed using content analysis techniques. When analyzing the school's PPP, the integration of environmental and sustainability themes into the school curriculum was identified, not only in specific subjects, but also in line with interdisciplinary approaches in conjunction with the themes. Regarding the results of the study, it was observed that environmental and sustainability education projects are aligned with teaching proposals that integrate families and the community. Regarding the integration of environmental and sustainability education into teaching practices, the research revealed that environmental issues aimed at developing ecological citizenship are intertwined in the teachers' lesson plans, combining practical activities and open dialogue outside the classroom. Regarding the teachers' perception of education and sustainability, the teachers' responses reveal a shared view of the intrinsic relationship between man and the environment, highlighting the environment as a vital context for human development; regarding the challenges of implementing their teaching proposals, they highlighted the lack of material and financial resources, as well as the need to offer specific training.
