Abstract

This paper discusses the impacts of ageism on women in the aging process in the digital age, focusing on the social and digital exclusion they experience on social media. Using a qualitative approach, testimonies from women over 50 were analyzed, whose experiences reveal how female aging is crossed by structural, symbolic and technological barriers. The study dialogues with theoretical references on ageism, intersectionality and social exclusion, showing that the challenges faced are not limited to the issue of access to technologies, but extend to the delegitimization of experience, aesthetic surveillance and the invisibility of their trajectories. On the other hand, the narratives also demonstrate movements of resistance, reinvention and production of new meanings about aging, both in life and in the digital environment.
